About this Session
The time to focus on rehearsing and preparing for upcoming shows has arrived! You devoted time and energy last year, attending weekly classes and learning two new BDL choreographies. If you'd like to participate in one of the upcoming shows, Ojai Festival and Cairo ShimmyQuake (CSQ), or both, rehearsals start Wednesday, March 11th.
How will this session work
- Both show groups will practice together and we will cover two dances every Wednesday, section by section.
- Sections of each choreography must be learned/reviewed ahead of class, by video (via our Online Studio only) or by choreo notes, on a weekly basis. Cris! will review and practice the sections in class but student/performer must do her homework before we meet in the studio. These choreography sections will be defined the week before, every week. Make sure to sign up soon and prepare for Class 1!
- All groups will run each choreography a few times per rehearsal, including understudies (learn about this opportunity below!)
- Placements and formations will be defined in Class 1.
- Attendance to the full session is mandatory for students who have committed to perform in the show(s). One (1) exception can be made if informed to Cris! with enough antecedence.
- Performers must have availability for extra rehearsals outside BDL's scheduled rehearsal time.
Important Dates & Rehearsal Schedule
The Ojai Festival show is on Saturday May 9th (afternoon time TBA).
CSQ is on Saturday June 6th (afternoon time TBA).
Here's a tentative schedule but with solid dates:
March 11, 18 & 25: Ojai + CSQ Performers and Understudies
April 1, 8, 15, 22: Ojai + CSQ Performers and Understudies
April 29 & May 6: Ojai Performers only
May 27 & June 3: CSQ Performers only
May 13 & 20: TBC but should be kept available for CSQ Performers
Rehearsals start at 6:15 pm (for approx. 2 hours) and will meet at SSBA (address and directions above).
Attend this session as an Understudy!
Intermediate students and above are welcome to participate in this session as an understudy! See why you should join:
- You can't/don't want to perform this time but would like to take classes and learn the choreographies
- You'd like to stay up-to-date with BDL's Dance Repertoire for future opportunities to perform
- You might need to miss a class or more

Because of the nature of this intensive performance class, students are expected to have solid belly dance foundation and a minimum of full 2 years studying the genre to be considered for this session. Contact Cris! if you have any questions or to confirm eligibility before enrolling.
